New Interim Executive Athletic Director Plans on Making Big Changes
The new Interim Executive Athletic Director at Briar Cliff has hopes of improving everything for the student-athletes.
Kelly Boe was chosen to be the new Interim Executive Athletic Director here at Briar Cliff effective January 17, 2023. Boe has a lot of experience in athletic and academic careers with over 20 years. Boe has served as Head basketball coach for the University of Concordia and Madison Area Technical College. Along with being Assistant Coach at St. John’s University and St. Cloud State University.
Boe has many goals he wants to accomplish while he is here, “my vision for the university is to improve all of our current offerings,” Boe said. “One of my visions is to get everybody practicing and competing on campus while making all of our venues recruitable spaces.”
Boe is making recruiting one of his top priorities while being here at BCU, “I think the more we can build out, the more it will help with recruitment,” Boe said.
Boe is also focused just as much on our current student-athletes as he is on our future ones. “I think building out will also help our current student-athletes be balanced,” Boe said. “It will make the experience for everyone on campus that much better.”
The community aspect of BCU is something that everyone notices, especially Boe, “the community aspect here is the strongest I have ever seen,” Boe said. “Going to the athletic events and seeing alumni come back to watch with their families shows how much of an impact this university leaves on the people.” Briar Cliff is an incredibly supportive campus as well, “there really is that family atmosphere here,” Boe said. “I really like how other programs support one another at their competitions,” “I think it is really cool to watch other teams come to different sports events and cheer them on,” Boe said.
Boe hopes to get the “interim” title removed and become the official Executive Athletic Director. “I’m here to see this through, I've enjoyed every aspect of this place and I'm excited about the opportunity here,” Boe said.
